The Macedonian Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria (MOCMV) would like to inform its members, parishioners and the public that our Annual St. Kliment “Grafce” picnic will be postponed. At this stage our best case scenario will be the 22nd December 2024 and a worst case scenario is next year. We will issue another public notice in the coming weeks.
The MOCMV has made previous public announcements in regards to the historical planning permit requirements. This is again the reason for the delay. Unfortunately there have been last minute requests for more information from the Country Fire Authority (CFA) and the Department of Transport. The MOCMV is working towards resolving these new issues as quickly as possible.
Works have already begun at Kinglake with the new sewage treatment system being installed and work on the new car park also commencing. We wish to thank everyone who has donated so far, as we have raised $11,787.00. Unfortunately this is well shy of the total cost of the works which is just under $100,000.00 so far. The MOCMV is a non-for- profit organisation run by volunteers which means all our monies go back into the organisation for the good of the entire community. Heavily investing in one large project such as this takes away valuable resources from other projects and sets us back considerably. Your continued support is paramount to the success of this project, future projects and our community.
We thank everyone for their understanding in this matter and would like to let you know we are striving daily to reopen Macedonia Park and St. Kliment Monastery as soon as possible.
Warm Regards
Dejan Zmejkoski
President MOCMV
